About Me

My photo
Fruit Explorer
The original goal of the series of e-mails that comprise this blog was to record my first impressions upon trying a fruit that I had never had before. That is, the first time that you try something, your impressions are most vivid and intense, and I wanted to capture them. The fresh impressions for each fruit depend both on what happens when I try it and also on what I can find out about it. This means that I report not only on the fruit but also on the richness and absurdity of the Internet. The original idea broadened to include unfamiliar fruits that provide familiar foods, e.g., chocolate, vanilla, mustard, and coffee. Another broadening occurred when I decided to cover not just fruit but any plant product, e.g., tea. These e-mails were written for my friends, so others will find some references puzzling. I advise new readers to start with the oldest posts and to read forward in time.
